This is the top 20 (from the top 100) greatest TV characters from BRAVO in 2004.

20. Ed Norton (The Honeymooners)
19. Eric Cartman (South Park)
18. Roseanne (Rosanne)
17. Jim Rockford (The Rockford Files)
16. George Jefferson (The Jeffersons)
15. J.R. Ewing (Dallas)
14. Hawkeye Pierce (M*A*S*H*)
13. Buffy (Buffy: The Vampire Slayer)
12. Edith Bunker (All In The Family)
11. Carrie Bradshaw (Sex and the City)
10. Tony Soprano (The Sopranos)
9. Capt. James T. Kirk (Star Trek)
8. Mary Richards (The Mary Tyler Moore Show)
7. Lt. Columbo (Columbo)
6. Seinfeld Cast (Seinfeld)
5. Homer Simpson (The Simpsons)
4. The Fonz (Happy Days)
3. Lucy Ricardo (I Love Lucy)
2. Ralph Kramden (The Honeymooners)
1. Archie Bunker (All In The Family)
So, why am I writing this? To tell you it's bogus. Who puts someone from South Park in the same list as such greats as Lucille Ball or Mary Tyler Moore? Also, why cop out and put a whole cast in? Not everyone in the cast is well deserving of the title "greatest TV character." (Yes, not even Seinfeld).
Lucy Ricardo, in my opinion should be number 1, Archie Bunker #2, then Ralph Kramden. And Homer Simpson should not be in the top 20 either.
If you look at the full list I think they should bring some down as well to replace some of these people I don't want on the list. So bring Barney Fife (The Andy Griffith Show) down, hello...he was totally funny. Not to mention Charles Ingalls (Little House on the Prairie), what little girl doesn't see herself as Laura and her dad as Charles? And maybe instead of Tony Soprano, let's get a role model that doesn't kill but brings life to the world like Cliff Huxtable (The Cosby Show). I would also take out #11, #13, and #18 and place them by Xena at #100. Sorry, but women who are like these characters are not role models or even close to real people. Can't we give our teenage girls anything better to look up to? Why not put real women like, Clare Huxtable, Debra Barone, and Laverne and Shirley more near the top.
Okay I think that's the end of my rant...hope you enjoyed this entry. Too bad if you didn't, it's my opinion and it's my blog! Hence, I can say whatever I want!

I second the motion, except for Lavern and Shirley. I would add June Cleaver and Donna Reed...I'm sure there are others. Just can't come up with them right now.
Love,
