Today we had to take Peter into the Lab to get a bilirubin test done. We noticed yesterday that his legs were yellowing which the doctor said to watch for and call if that happened. The test came back at a level of 15.8 (when we left the hospital last Thursday it was 12.7). This number should be going down but it jumped. We have to take him again tomorrow for another test to see where the level is at. If it has increased we will be getting a bili-blanket, a decrease is a good thing and they'll just keep an eye on it.
The course of action for right now is to feed him formula for supplement after breastfeeding him for 15 minutes (the breastfeeding is just to keep him used to feeding this way). The rest of the plan will be spelled out better tomorrow.
Happy New Year to everyone. Enjoy ringing in the New Year with someone you love!
