Let's begin our story at 1 am this morning.
I had finally become tired enough to fall asleep. I knew that the morning hour between 7a and 7p would be difficult. I fell asleep praying my kids would sleep until 8a.
Seth woke up at 6:30a to get ready for work. At 7:15a I heard the twins, luckily they were happily chatting with each other so I slept another 15min and then reevaluated how long I might be able to stay in my bed. I made it to 7:45a. At around 8a Peter awoke and I was just getting the twins breakfast. I sat them all down and we prayed. I got Peter his cereal (note: I only had one kind) and set off to make my breakfast. Peter began a fit and I sent him to the room to lay back in bed and come out when he was done crying.
I went in 5min later to find a sleeping little boy. It only lasted about 10 minutes but he came out refreshed. While he was sleeping I figured I would give him a do-over and I would change one thing. I would ask what he wanted for breakfast instead of assuming he wanted cereal.
Me: Peter, I'm so happy you're up. Would you like cereal for breakfast?
Peter: no.
Me: what would you like then, sweetie?
Peter: nutella on bread.
Me: that's a great snack idea, but we need to eat breakfast first. Would you like an egg?
Peter: Yeah! yeah! Yeah!
Thank you, Jesus, for do-overs and second chances!
