Button letters are so popular for kids rooms.
This past weekend we had a bridal shower for my sister. We decided to give her daughter a gift, too. We (as hostesses) decided to make a button letter for her with her first initial.
It was quite simple after I searched so many sites on the easiest way to make them. I combined a couple different tutorials, so I will explain my process here:
I got buttons from Meijer and they only had white/clear package. I had every intention of dying the buttons purple but after thinking about the dying process, and the fact I've never dyed anything but Easter Eggs, I decided to do something different.
* I took a black piece of fabric and wrapped it around the canvas.
* I placed the buttons, very carefully, in the shape of an 'A'. (I did not use a template because I couldn't find a font I liked on my very traditional word program.) Yes, that means I eyeballed it!
* Then, I glued the buttons to the fabric with Elmer's glue.
* After centering the letter on the canvas I sewed the buttons to the fabric and canvas with purple thread (not seen in the picture).
* I cut fabric to size and stapled it down with a staple gun!
My niece loved it and I enjoyed creating it for her.
Cost was quite low. $4 for buttons, $3 for canvas, thread and fabric I already had.
PROPS ::
just look on pinterest and you'll find them or search google and there are plenty of tutorials.
What I learned :: it's not that hard to use a staple gun!
