First field trip

Peter's preschool class went on their first field trip this morning.

We've been to our local fire dept. before, for a tour, but this time we did some learning about fire safety since October is fire safety month!

They have done a lot of learning in class about the basics like "stop, drop, and roll", learning their address and phone number, and practice calling 911. Tonight at dinner we had an extended discussion with Peter about his trip, and since I went along on the field trip I knew whether he was answering me correctly when I asked him what Fireman Kyle talked about.

We went over what to do in case of a fire and where to meet if we get separated or come out of the house at different times. We talked about the importance of knowing two ways out of each room. We also discussed keeping low and making lots of noise if you can't get out of a room, this way the firefighters can hear you and come to rescue you.

We pray we never have to use this information but at least we have a plan in case we do.

It was a great field trip!
