After months of going from fall jackets to winter jackets to no jackets back to fall/winter jackets we are FINALLY in only shorts and t-shirts! I love this time of the year where I can think actively on whether or not to turn on the air from day to day! We get a great breeze through our house which is a huge plus since I hate seeing our electric bill during these few months! Last year was horrible for those bills and I'm hoping we can re-cooperate some of those costs this year! I am hanging our clothes to dry on a line outside and I have turned the heat-dry off on my dish washer - just a couple ways to reduce those pesky bills!
Onto the Weekend!
Saturday we spent the better part of the day with my sister, Lori! She came to our house and the kids planned it pretty well. The twinners wanted to show her their new bikes, Peter wanted to show her the slide, and we planned to go on a walk! Peter enjoyed getting wet in the sprinkler while it watered our new trees and we had BLT's for dinner! It was such a pleasant day to be outside! Oh, and we did Root Beer Floats...mmmm!
Yesterday we went to the Grand Haven Kite Festival and enjoyed a little while on the beach and seeing some pretty neat kites. I must be honest, I thought it would be better. Staying on the honesty, though, trying to find a parking spot, walking all the way to the beach (with 3 kids) from that parking spot, and then trying to find the rest of our party wasa little extremely exhausting. Once I cooled off by wading in the lake and getting the kids cooled down it was okay. Then, one had to go pee (which was quite a walk) so we packed up and headed out. We were only there a half hour. I thought there would have been more to see/do there, I was wrong. Next year, we'll buy our own kites instead of waste the gas to go see someone else fly them! The kids liked the beach though and said they would like to return...maybe next time we'll go to a beach that's a little easier to access!
