Digging Deeper {Learning about Family I Never Knew}

When I signed on for the job asked of me by my Mother-In-Law I was excited. I love doing techie things (this task was to digitize slides and old pictures) and then if you combine it with my recently found love for family genealogy, WOW!, I am beyond excited!

Then came the box, and another, and another! Plus all the equipment that my Mother-in-Law had purchased a couple years ago! Last night I couldn't contain myself; I had to get my hands on these old, antique-y boxes and photo albums. I spent from 9:30 ish until 11:00 PM just sorting the photos. Then, I found two, what I can only describe as, notepads. When I opened them I was careful as they are well worn and could tear easily.

The first one I have yet to find a date on but it looks like poems or songs, written by hand. I need to find a date and an author. I will also search to see if these are published works or original.

The second one, detailed with a spider spinning its web in a tree, has a date. September 11, 1883; 130 years old! It is a book of notes from family and friends to one person. I have yet to read through all the content to find out why, if for any reason, they were making this book for her!

All these things are from Hubby's Paternal Grandmother's side of the family. There are genealogy pages to look though, pictures (some dated and marked with names), and even copies of wills made by those that have passed many, many years before us.

This is more than I could have hoped for, more than I ever wanted to do, BUT I am SO EXCITED to dig in deeper. To learn. To explore.
