Two weekends ago it was Peter with the fever. This past weekend Aaron started with a fever.
When Monday came Aaron had had a fever for 72 hours and for a while it was 104.5*. I called the doctor on Monday morning and they wanted him in for evaluation. We were told it was a virus and if he still had a fever on Wednesday we should call in and let them know. When Wednesday came the fever was still present. We were sent to get labs done and they found a higher than normal white cell count and some inflammation. We were called back to the office for a 7pm appt.
I was quite nervous because I was wondering what else these abnormal tests had told them that they weren't telling me on the phone. Well, it really was nothing more than a "we just want to look at his ears and throat again" visit. A previously clear throat was now red and irritated. The ears were still clear but the white cell count told them there could be a bacterial infection somewhere so they prescribed an antibiotic. They also found his lip to be a bit infected from possibly staff.
With 2 doses of medicine in him now we are on the road to recovery. I'm starting to see the healthy Aaron shine through again! So thankful today to see his smile and bright eyes instead of droopy eyes!
